The Islamic Foundation has issued a press statement amid the ongoing coronavirus crisis
The holy Shab-e-Barat, the night of fortune and forgiveness, will be observed in the country on Thursday night.
This time, Muslim devotees are to observe the night with religious fervor staying at home amid coronavirus restrictions.
Devotees will offer special prayers, recite from the Holy Quran, hold Milad, zikr, and other religious rituals seeking divine blessings for the well being of mankind.
They will pass the whole night offering prayers.
Amid coronavirus outbreak, the Islamic Foundation has urged the people to offer prayers from home during Shab-e-Barat.
“Pray at home on Shab-e-Barat night for the people’s safety during the crisis time of the pandemic,” said a press release from Islamic Foundation on Wednesday.
“We are humbly requesting the countrymen, including ulema, peer-mashayekhs, and imams, muajjins of the mosques across the country, to offer special prayers to the Almighty Allah to keep our motherland, the Muslim ummah, as well as the whole world safe from Covid-19,” said Islamic Foundation.
It also urged not to visit graveyards and shrines on the occasion to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, in their messages to greet Muslims in the country and around the world on the occasion, also urged the devotees to offer their prayers at home, reported BSS.
Bangladesh on Wednesday confirmed 54 new cases and three deaths from Covid-19, a severely acute respiratory illness caused by a new strain of coronavirus. The country has so far recorded 218 cases of Covid-19.
